We are new to the Kitchener area and are happy to see that you have included a Type III classification!  Look forward to the event and entering my 68 T3 Variant.

my 2 cents is that the judgeing should be done as at the june jiterbug to ensure that there is fare judgeing. I feel that the judgeing with a check list of items to look at on each car and done by people that know the cars is the way to go, this would curb any concers of friends judgeing friends and so on.  Lets award for those who should get awards not just the most popular person at the show.
just love doing the vw thing

We get this comment a lot, bugbuiler.  There are a number of problems relating to this (in no particular order):
  • When "serious judging" comes in, people tend to get more competative and more hostile. (I have seen this first hand.) We are here to have fun, and we have felt that official judging takes away from that.
  • Getting enough judges and support people out to actually judge the cars. It's not only getting enough people that know enough about the cars to judge, but also enough people to sift through scoresheets and count points.
  • As you state in your mail, the June Jitterbug already does this kind of judging.  We want to make sure that the people that win are not neccesarily the people that spent the most on their vehicles.  Now, hold on, hold on! ;-) Before you jump down my throat for this point, let me give you an example of what happened in the past. Someone had an old white bus (Dave Ireland) a number of years ago. It wasn't the prettiest thing to look at, but he set up a table with paints and brushes to let people paint his van. What resulted was a cool looking hippie van with peace signs, flowers and hearts with "Bobby + Lisa" enscriptions. In the end, this person ended up winning their class b/c of the unique way he presented his vehicle. This example epidomizes what we are trying to accomplish with this show.  Having fun.
